Just a crushing defeat last night for Arizona, as they wasted an awesome pitching performance from Wade Miley and completely imploded in the ninth inning, allowing Pittsburgh to score three times in their final at-bat to fall 3-2. That game was symbolic of how Arizona's season has gone so far, and coming off that deflating loss we look for Pittsburgh's momentum to carry over to tonight's game.
Pittsburgh starter Charlie Morton has been very tough here at home this year, owning a nice 2.22 ERA through seven home starts. Those consistent home numbers match up very favorably against a weak Arizona lineup that is only hitting .228 as a team over the last seven games - and especially in tonight's game considering the obvious letdown spot. Morton has held Arizona to just two runs over 13 innings in his last two career meetings and we'll look for that success to carry over to this game!
